Planning revelations

Planning revelations

We approach planning completely differently. I want every detail locked down two weeks ahead - backup restaurant options, weather contingencies, driving directions printed out just in case. Jake prefers the ‘we’ll figure it out when we get there’ approach, which honestly makes my organized little heart skip beats for all the wrong reasons.

But watching him patiently explain why spontaneous discoveries make better memories while I frantically Googled backup hiking trails, I got it. We’re not trying to control each other’s planning style anymore - we’re trying to blend them.

His spontaneity keeps me from over-scheduling every minute, and my preparation means we actually have somewhere to sleep when we arrive.

Three hours, four coffee refills, and approximately twenty-seven compromises later, we’ve got a weekend that’s planned enough for my peace of mind but loose enough for his sense of adventure. Turns out the planning process taught us more about working together than any relationship article ever could.
