Dead laptop, live possibilities

👩‍⚕️ Elena

My laptop decided to give up the ghost right in the middle of updating my curriculum notes for next week’s pilot program meeting. Just completely died - no warning, no dramatic shutdown sequence, just black screen and silence.

Sitting there staring at it, surrounded by all my handwritten backup notes spread across the floor like some kind of academic crime scene, something clicked. Three months ago I was stressed about getting enough hours at the campus rec center to pay rent. Now I’m redesigning nursing education curriculum that other schools want to adopt.

The advisor mentioned something in passing last week about coordinator positions opening up if the pilot succeeds. Didn’t think much of it then, but watching my semester’s worth of work scattered around me made it real. This isn’t just a cool side project anymore - it’s becoming something that could actually be a career.

Jake offered to let me use his computer, but honestly? Sometimes you need your laptop to die to realize you’ve been thinking too small about what comes next.
