Morning inventory
Tuesday morning, coffee in hand, watching Jake do his thing.

Morning inventory
He’s got this whole system - laptop open, papers sorted by importance, coffee brewing in the exact sequence that makes sense to him. Three weeks ago when our heating went haywire, this same methodical approach drove me absolutely crazy. I wanted to call the landlord immediately. He wanted to research HVAC troubleshooting videos first.
But here’s what I keep thinking about: we actually figured it out. Not just the heating thing, but how to be frustrated and problem-solve at the same time without completely losing it on each other.

Mid-thought, mid-coffee, mid-realization.
He researches, I make the calls. He maps out the steps, I handle the follow-up. We’re like this weird, functional team that neither of us saw coming.
The apartment’s warm now, obviously. But more than that, I think we proved something to ourselves about what happens when life throws you a curveball and you’re sharing 800 square feet with someone who approaches problems completely differently than you do. Turns out different doesn’t mean wrong - it just means you need more coffee and better communication.
Also turns out Jake makes really good coffee, which I definitely knew already but bears repeating.
