Found my anniversary planning notebook today while cleaning out my bag. Three pages of lists, backup plans for the backup plans, and detailed timelines with 15-minute intervals.

Jake’s contribution? “Mountain cabin sounds nice.” Done.
I used to think this meant I care more or that he doesn’t take things seriously. But looking at these pages now, I see something different. He trusts me to handle the details because I’m good at it. I love making things special and he loves experiencing what I create.

Three pages of anniversary planning. Because apparently I plan my planning.
Turns out we both contribute exactly what we’re best at. I orchestrate, he appreciates fully. I research seventeen hiking trails, he packs the perfect snacks without being asked. Different styles, same investment.
Maybe the real planning skill is knowing when to plan and when to just let your person be who they are.
