The reveal in the process
Funny how you think you’re just planning a weekend getaway and end up learning something fundamental about how you and your person work together.

The reveal in the process
Spent the morning going through all my anniversary planning notes - because of course I kept detailed notes - and realizing that Jake and I have developed this whole system without even discussing it. I research everything to death, create spreadsheets, present options. He listens, asks the right questions, and somehow always knows which choice I’m actually leaning toward before I do.

The evidence of overthinking
What struck me wasn’t just that we figured out the compromise between his spontaneous mountain town idea and my need-to-know-every-detail approach. It was watching how naturally we’ve learned to balance each other’s planning styles. I don’t have to tone down my research obsession, and he doesn’t have to pretend he wants to micromanage every detail.
Seven years in and we’re still figuring out new ways we fit together. The weekend was great, but honestly? This whole planning dance we’ve perfected might be even better.
