Green thumbs and dirty fingernails
Carmen showed up this afternoon with a bag full of tiny succulents and declared we were having a “plant intervention” in my room. Apparently my one dying fern wasn’t cutting it anymore and I needed some “low-maintenance green friends” to brighten up the dorm.

Green thumbs and dirty fingernails
Turns out repotting plants is way messier than it looks in magazines. We spread newspaper all over my floor and Carmen basically became a plant whisperer, explaining which ones needed more drainage and how often to water each type. I mostly just tried not to kill anything while she did the actual work.
Two hours later we had six perfectly potted succulents lined up on my windowsill.

Our little plant family
Carmen says they’re foolproof but knowing me, I’ll probably find a way to mess this up too. At least they’re cute while they last.
Now I just need to remember to water them but not too much, give them light but not too much, and basically be the opposite of my usual plant-killing self. Wish me luck.
