Sarah picked me up for what she called an “easy recovery run” this afternoon. Thirty-five minutes later I’m discovering muscles I didn’t know existed while she looks like she barely broke a sweat.

Apparently there’s a whole science to this post-run stretching thing. Sarah’s got this routine memorized - hip flexors, IT band, calves, hamstrings - while I’m just trying to touch my toes without falling over. She keeps saying things like “really feel that stretch in your piriformis” and I’m nodding along like I know what that means.

The watch doesn’t lie though. We managed a decent pace for what felt like forever, and I actually kept up the whole time. Sarah says consistency beats speed every time, which is good because speed is definitely not happening yet.

Maybe by summer I’ll have figured out this whole runner thing. For now I’m just proud my legs still work.
