First Wheels on Creekwood Lane
We officially christened the new house today with Sophie’s first real bike ride. Marcus assembled her training wheel bike this morning while she bounced around the kitchen asking “Is it ready? Is it ready?” approximately forty-seven times. The moment we rolled it outside, she claimed ownership with the confidence of a six-year-old who has been WAITING for this moment her entire life.

The pure joy on her face as she wobbled down our sidewalk screaming “I’M DOING IT!” made every penny of this mortgage worth it. This is what the yard was for, right? Not my carefully planned herb garden that Theo keeps digging up, but moments like this.
Of course, Theo decided he needed to participate by chasing after her on foot, which resulted in the inevitable tumble.

Down but not out. Theo’s determination is unmatched.
But my boy popped right back up like a little rubber ball and kept going. The determination in this family is either inspiring or concerning, depending on the day.
Marcus spent the afternoon following behind with his hands out like Sophie might topple at any second, while I documented from the deck with my coffee. Sometimes the best parenting is knowing when to hold the camera and when to let them figure it out. Today was definitely a camera day.
