Accidental teacher

This girl at the next table kept sighing really loudly over her anatomy book, and I finally couldn’t take it anymore. Walked over and asked if she needed help with the respiratory system diagrams she was staring at. Turns out she’s in my program but different section, and she was completely lost on the whole gas exchange process.

Spent the next hour breaking it down for her - started with the basics and worked up to the harder stuff. It was actually really fun explaining it in different ways until something clicked for her. Made me realize how much I’ve actually learned this semester, you know? Sometimes you don’t know you understand something until you try to teach it to someone else.

She ended up getting it completely by the end, and now I’m wondering if I should put up one of those tutoring flyers on the bulletin board. Jake keeps saying I’m good at explaining things, and Carmen’s always asking me to help her with the stuff she missed. Maybe this could be a real thing?

Plus let’s be honest - I could use the extra money, and it would look pretty good on nursing school applications if I actually decide to keep going past my prerequisites.
